Where it comes from

Stones sourced in the UK at VS2. Cut, set and finished by the workshop we work with, then checked again here before anything is boxed. The supplier and factory frames go in this column once they are cleared for us to publish.

The probe, while it runs

A tester is a small thing to film and an easy thing to fake with a cut. So we do not cut.

  • The piece goes on the board and the camera starts before the tester is anywhere near it.
  • The probe touches the stone in the same shot, with the piece in frame the whole time.
  • The clip is kept with the order. Enquiries and clip requests go through Instagram at spawn.vs.

What the
stone is

Silicon carbide

Moissanite is silicon carbide. It is grown rather than mined, then cut and set by hand the same way any stone is. That is the whole material story and there is no second version of it.

Not a diamond

We do not sell it as one, we do not write that it is one, and we will not tell you it is the same thing. It is moissanite, it is priced as moissanite, and it is described as moissanite on every page and every invoice.

It passes a tester

A tester reads how quickly a stone moves heat. Moissanite moves heat fast, so it reads as a pass. That is the stone behaving the way silicon carbide behaves, not a trick, and it is exactly why we would rather film it than write about it.
