Every length below is the full loop, measured end to end with the clasp closed. The drawing is a guide to where a piece lands on an average build, not a promise about yours. Necks differ. So do shoulders.

Reading the drawing
A wider chain wraps more of the neck, so the same stated length sits a touch higher in a heavy gauge than it does in a thin one. That is why the drawn chain lifts slightly when you go up in width.
Layering two chains works best when they are two inches apart. Any closer and they fight for the same line on the chest.
If a piece is worn over a hoodie or a jacket, add two inches to whatever length you picked here.
Rings, measured with a piece of string
You do not need a sizer. You need something that wraps and a ruler with millimetres on it. Do this properly once and the number is yours for good.
- Cut a strip of paper about 5 mm wide, or take a length of string that does not stretch.
- Wrap it around the base of the finger. Snug, not tight. You should feel it, not fight it.
- Check it clears the knuckle. If the knuckle is much wider than the base, measure both and take the number in between.
- Mark where the strip meets itself, lay it flat against a ruler and read the length in millimetres. That number is your inside circumference.
- Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest, and never when your hands are cold.
- Measure twice. A single millimetre is roughly half a size.
- A wide band sits tighter than a thin one. On a band over about 8 mm, go up half a size.

European and ISO sizes are simply the inside circumference in whole millimetres, so read those straight off the third column. UK letter equivalents are confirmed by hand rather than guessed at, so send the circumference and it comes back with the letter.

Bracelets, wrist plus allowance
A bracelet is a wrist measurement with room added. How much room is a taste decision, and it is the one thing people most often get wrong in both directions.
- Wrap the strip around the wrist just below the wrist bone, where the piece will actually sit.
- Pull it snug against the skin with no slack, then mark and measure in centimetres. That is your bare wrist, not your bracelet length.
- Add the allowance. Snug adds 1 cm and barely moves. Standard adds 2 cm and slides an inch either way. Loose adds 3 cm and drapes over the hand when the arm drops.
- A wide Cuban link needs more allowance than a fine chain to sit flat rather than roll on the wrist. On anything over 12 mm, take the loose figure.
- Watches and bracelets on the same wrist need the loose figure too, or they lock against each other.
